Our Mission

De Anza Academy of Technology & the Arts (DATA) is a high achieving and innovative magnet school where students, community, and staff collaborate in authentic learning experiences. Together, we support an inclusive environment focused on relationships in order to develop skills for a global society.

8th Grade End-of-the-Year Activities Schedule

Its time to celebrate our promoting 8th graders! To participate in the End-of-the-Year Activities, 8th graders need a 2.0 GPA for the second semester, no suspensions in the second semester, and no unsatisfactory citizenship marks in the second semester.  

Event Schedule:

  • 8th Grade Breakfast (6/7) 

  • 8th Grade VUSD Extravaganza (6/7) 5:30pm to 8pm at the Buena HS Stadium.  RSVP HERE

  • 8th Grade Beach Day (6/11)  *Permission Slips due by Friday May 24th in the office.

  • 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony  (6/13) 10am at DATA. 

If your scholar is participating in the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony:

  • Please carpool if possible.  Parking is limited.
  • You may begin parking in the side or back lot as early as 8:30 am. Please follow directions of the parking staff. Do not park in the front lot. We ask that you please do not enter the quad for seating until 9am.
  • Seating is on a very limited, first come, first served basis. The ceremony is brief but feel free to bring your own lawn chair or blanket if needed so you can sit in our quad. 

  • Handicap seating is available on the marked blue benches on the walkway next to the student area. If you require more assistance please call our front office.

  • Students will prepare to enter the staging area at 9:50. 

  • At 10:00am the ceremony begins and students will march to their seats.

  • Students will march out of their seats to the grass area by the gym when we conclude for their school picture.

  • Please keep the walkways clear for promoting students.

  • If you choose to sign out your 8th grader, early student sign out tables will be located near campus exits.

Prior to the end of the school year, more than 50 of Ventura High School’s Capstone Food Service & Hospitality’s advanced culinary students had a unique and unforgettable experience under the direction of their teacher, Chef Kayla Hernandez and Peirano's Restuarant.

The VUSD Districtwide Student Art Show, a unique celebration of artistic talent, marked its 5th anniversary last Thursday, May 16, 2024. The event, held at the prestigious VITA Art Center, was a testament to the partnership between the Ventura Education Partnership, VITA Art Center, and the Ventura Arts Collaborative.
